At HHES we strive to build positive relationships with each student, every day and strive to meet the varying needs of each student whether it be academic, social-emotional, behavioral, etc. We focus on a "Culture of Learning" that involves the 7 Habits of Happy Kids and a positive Growth Mindset approach. Our students are involved in goal setting, service, leadership and student led conferences.
We have high quality teachers who are known to provide high quality reading and math instruction and seek out professional development and reading on their own. We are passionate about instructional strategies, engaging our students and preparing them for the future.
We offer a comprehensive Response to Learning program where we employ 3 certified interventioniosts for both math and reading as well as a Response to Behavior program where we employ one full time behavior interventionist. We also have a successfull PASS program.
We offer Music, Physical Education, Art, Library and a STEM lab to each student every week. Our special area teachers also offer enrichment opportunities in STLP, Vex Robotics, Graphic design, Leadership, Drama and Keyboarding. Our students also participate in an art showcase or an arts and humanities performance once each school year.
We have a computer lab with over 30 desktops, two chromebook carts and a laptop cart. Classrooms are also equipped with desktops, laptops, iPads, chromebooks, ipod touches as well as other technology devices. Our students have access to online programs like Lexia Core 5, Think Central and Raz-kids to name a few.
We have an active PTO as well as several community partnerships to enhance opportunities and programs for our students as well. We have a very strong and supportive Etown Educational Foundation in which our teachers submit grants and are awarded materials, programs, etc. to support high quality instruction as well.
We are part of a small school district with pride and tradition that runs deep in all we do. We base the decisions we make each day on what is best for students always putting them at the center of all we do.
