  1. What time does the school day start and end?  Panther Academy:  7:45 - 2:35, Morningside Elementary and Helmwood Heights Elementary:  7:50 - 2:50, TK Stone and Etown High School:  8:25 - 3:25, Valley View and Glendale Center:  8:25 - 3:15.
  2. What is the grading scale for the Elizabethtown School District?  A = 95-100+; B = 88-94; C = 77-87; D = 70-76; F = 0-69
  3. How do I schedule a conference with my child's teacher(s)?  There are a couple of ways to schedule a conference: 1) Call the office of your child's school and request a conference. 2) Contact your child's teacher(s) via email requesting a conference. The format for the email address is as follows: teacher's first name.teacher's last name@etown.kyschools.us. (Example: sharon.lee@etown.kyschools.us).
  4. What is the cost of the school breakfast and lunch?   Panther Academy, Helmwood Heights, Morningside, and TK Stone have free breakfast and lunch for all students.   Elizabethtown High School and Valley View Education Center charge $1.25 for breakfast. The cost of lunch at Elizabethtown High School and Valley View Education Center is $2.25. Free and reduced lunch forms are available at the school. Please see the applicable information in Departments – Nutrition Services on our website.
  5. What school supplies will my child need?  General school supply lists are located on the home page for each school.
  6. What is the Dress Code policy for my child?  The Dress Code Policy is listed on the home page for each school. In our website, click Schools on the Menu bar and then select your child's school. Scroll on the right to the Supply List.
  7. I would like for my child to attend preschool. What are the requirements for enrolling in preschool?  Preschool is available to 4-year-olds who are "at risk", meaning they are eligible for the federal School Lunch Program. Preschool is also available for 3- and 4-year olds with disabilities. Enrollment in the preschool program is at the discretion of the parent. For more information, please call 270-765-3007.
  8. What documents do I need to have in order to register my child for school?
    • State-certified birth certificate as proof of age; must be provided within 30 days of enrollment.
    • Up-to-date Kentucky immunization certificate (out-of-state certificates can be taken to the Hardin County Health Department or to your local Kentucky physician for transcription onto a KY Certificate; must be submitted within 2 weeks of enrollment)
    • Initial entry in KY public school – proof of a preventative health care exam (physical) dated within one year prior to enrollment; must be submitted within 30 days of enrollment; forms are available at each school as well on our website under Departments – Student Services. Initial Entry means the first time of enrollment in a KY public school so if enrolling from private school or out-of-state, a physical is required.
    • Vision Exam must be submitted no later than January 1 that a 3-, 4-, 5-, or 6-year-old child is enrolled in public school, public preschool, or Head Start program. Forms are available at each school as well as on our website under Departments – Student Services.
    • Dental Exam/Screening must be submitted no later than January 1 that a 5 – or 6-year old child is enrolled in public school.
    • 6th Grade Students must submit proof of a preventative health care exam (physical) dated within one year prior to enrollment in sixth grade and must be submitted within 30 days of enrollment. Forms are available at each school as well as on our website under Departments – Student Services.
    • If available, copy of child's social security card to serve as a unique identifier for the student.
    • Latest grade report and/or transcript from previous school to assist in student placement. If student was receiving special services or being served under 504, a copy of the IEP or plan would ensure continued services.
  9. What are the residency requirements for enrollment in EIS?  To enroll in the Elizabethtown Independent School District, a student must either reside in the Elizabethtown School District boundaries or pay a tuition fee to attend. If you do not reside within the school district and wish to attend our schools, please contact the Superintendent Secretary at 270-765-6146 for more information. See the district boundaries.
